Will maintain security information awareness of all aspects which could potentially affect the safety and security, including up-to-date knowledge of events relating to the security environment through insertion and monitoring of the Safety and Security Incidents Reporting System (SSIRS), situation reports, local media and other open sources, and the cultivation of an information gathering and sharing network in accordance with policy and guidelines.
Assist the PSA/CSO in gathering and processing all relevant Security Information in support of the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) in Afghanistan;
Maintains an understanding of the political and security situation in all the country with special focus in the UN area of operations; follow unfolding events; conducts trend analysis and mid to long-term predictive analysis; work with colleagues to gather and verify information; and be able to select, confirm, and deliver the relevant security information, in a concise manner (written or oral);
Contributes to situational awareness by producing timely accurate and analytical reports and briefings that inform senior UNSMS leadership through the PSA/CSO;
Analyzes security information, identifies trends of threats and security incidents affecting UNSMS personnel, assets and operations in Afghanistan;
